About the festival
Gaura Parva is the most important cultural festival of the Sudurpashchim (far-west) province of Nepal. It honors Goddess Gauri (Parvati) and Lord Shiva. Devotees fast, prepare Biruda (five-seed mixture), and gather to perform the highly energetic Deuda circle dance.
